Dancing in madness,
spilling myriad heart hues,
I painted myself all over the dance floor.
Not knowing what to think,
lacking the sanity of silence.
And she held my hand, my guardian,
and pressed against my ear her lips,
”Shh! it’s okay. I’ll put you to sleep.
When life is deranged and the voices are strange,
I’ll show you new dreams.” she gently whispered.
So, like robes fluttering in a wind wild,
I followed her out of the storm,
rising in madness, collapsing in silence,
until at last, I slipt gently,
drifting into a laser beam world of translucent dreams.
There I walked alone, enchanted,
yet knowing not why those homes I couldn’t touch.
But safe was this new world devoid of music,
safe from the howls of the bloodthirsty wolves.
But one day my shield net ripped,
the stitches of my veil loosened apart.
And through the gap, you held my hand,
walking me out
in the stupor of slumber.
Now this silence was new, the world was you.
The night sky stars floated into my head
and the howls and serenades of my head
wandered free into the night.
Still asleep, dazed by your finger touch of love,
I rocked back into wakefulness
by the howls of the werewolves of the midnight woods,
and in the cold, you- my warmth- had left my side.
Now as I stand here shouting out your name,
I know now, this madness, I won’t escape.
And instead, into this world of chaos, I’d quest,
deeper and deeper, in your magic’s search.
No, my guardian, I won’t fall back into slumber
or all the floating holograms of dreams.
It’s this dance I want – dangerous and real
on the frail seams of the magic and madness of chaos.
