The prompt given by the official NaPoWriMo site: Write a poem that presents a scene from an unusual point of view.
THE OTHER SIDES
For years I’ve lain silent
As lynching mobs spent
On me, hours of delicacy
Tracing a blood tracery.
Maybe, maybe it’s time
I rise up to fight back.
I am Might.
A powerful roar that could ignite
The thrill of fear
In the foes that near.
My scream can shatter
All those who lynch at me.
I don’t stay silent,
I rage as a wind, violent.
But sometimes, the ghastly
Echo of my cry deadly
Fills my ear, and then I wish
Maybe I were silent.
What is the source
of her vigorous force?
That she could rein her own rage
And contain her angst in a cage.
There is power in her patience,
Mightier than Might is Patience.
THE 2 LEGGED CREATURES:
Pitiable they stand aloof and unspoken
No voice to claim, no movement to ease
The pain of standing long unbroken
To day and night and storm and peace.
How void of colors their plaintive lives
How worn must the music of a rainforest be?
What life of caged confinement these leaves
What relentless uniformity must these trees see?
THE ROOTED CREATURES:
We watch the clouds of ages flutter by
A hundred and thousand years passed
What pitiable creatures these men who die
In hasty lives, idleness unmasked.
Oh, the myriadness of their cacophony,
Such dis-uniformity in the colors of one race.
How tiring their endless dissymmetry must be
How unrested their lives, how unobserving their eyes!
The way of men we sigh upon
How estranged they drift from their own soil.
Ever fleeing, their trunks from their roots shorn,
Humans, we pity their petty turmoil.
I am inviting you all to join me in this venture. Use the prompt given above to craft your own verses.
And oh, be sure to tag me.
